The ministry has announced that the holidays will start from 8th July, Friday and will last for four days for celebrating the Eid

Eid Al-Adha holidays for the two sectors will last for 4 days starting from the Day of Standing in Arafat on 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to July 8, until the end of 12 Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to July 11.

Eid Al Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is celebrated all over the Muslim world to mark the anniversary of the willingness of Abraham’s prophet to offer everything to God.

Eid Al Adha lasts four days and is an important occasion for Muslims to make visits to close friends and relatives visit graves, offer sacrificed meat, and finally go to mosques for an Eid prayer.

Hajis will start Hajj from August 30th onwards and will gather in Mina to spend a day and night for worship.

Arafat Day will be on 31st of August, when the Hajis will stand for prayer on the Mount of Arafat near to Makkah city.

Astronomer Khalid Al-Zaaq, who is a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences confirmed in his tweet on Twitter account that “Eid begins Sunday astronomically.” He also added that “the astronomical calculations based on followed criteria suggest that Sunday is first day of Eid Al-Fitr.”
