The answer provided by the Traffic Police was that the renewal of a driver’s license can be completed through the use of an Absher account; however, it is necessary to obtain a medical check-up certificate from a hospital that has been certified by Absher

The procedure of renewing a driving license via the Internet requires the completion of a few steps. We are going to have a detail steps about these.

Steps to Renew your Saudi Arabian Driving License Online:

You will need to provide the necessary information on the license renewal form, which can be obtained at Dalla Driving School.   After clicking on services, choose the Traffic option from the drop-down menu.

• Click the option to renew your driver’s license.
  You will now be able to view all of the necessary conditions for the renewal of your Saudi driving license online.

• Be sure to pay close attention to the instructions that are displayed, and then finish your application online using only a few easy steps.
  As can be seen, the renewal of the license was completed without any problems.

Delivery of Licenses or Pickup of Licenses From Dallah:

You will be prompted to confirm the delivery request at the very end of the process of completing the application for the renewal of your license. You have the option of continuing with the delivery request method or making advantage of the pick-up service offered by the Dalla Driving School that is geographically located closest to the address that was provided on the license application.

Alternate Way to Renew Saudi Driving License:

Dallah Driving School Timings

In case you have to take training classes. Register in nearby Dallah driving school. The Dallah schools are in all the major cities and operate in two shifts.

Day Shift: 7:00 to 12:00

Evening Shift: 15:00 to 19:00

You need to confirm the timings with the school as well. Timings can be different during Ramadan and on other occasions. Better to check with your school.

School training fee is about 435 SAR

6. Stand in the queue and obtain the token for license check counter, if its for the first time you will get a token which starts with letter “B”.

7. you will find 2 queues, one for manual and the other for automatic car, make sure you stand in proper queue which you have selected in your driving application form.

8. It would be helpful if you learn few words in Arabic like left, right, reverse, etc as most of the times the examiner might not know English. During the test be cool and don’t be in hurry as the examiner might try to confuse you, calmly adjust your mirrors and seat belt. If you have cleared here you will get “A” which means you are cleared for the final round, which will be a computer test and the fee will be SR100, within few minutes of computer test they will be announcing the results, if your name is announced that means you need to go for final driving test and if you clear this, they will give you the file which should be produced in the computer room, they will be calling your name and the KSA (Saudi Arabia) driving license will be handed over to you.

8. If you fail in the final test, a slip will be given and you have to produce that slip to get a new date for the driving test, only 3 chances will be provided, and if you fail in all the 3 chances, you need to apply with a fresh file.

So, if a vehicle who has better fuel efficiency will have to pay less Istimara for Renewal. This decision was taken for both Light & heavy vehicles.

Renewal Fees for Istimara is 300 Saudi Riyals for 3 years, but this will be changed as per fuel efficiency of the vehicle

The annual Fees will be applied on two phases:

Phase-1:

Starting 2022, will include new light vehicles manufactures in the year 2023, provided the application is linked to completing the modernization of electronic systems of concerned authorities for Istimara issuance & renewal

Phase-2

Starting 2023, this will include all the vehicles, provided the application is linked with the SEEC (Saudi Energy Efficiency Center) ensuring readiness of infra & co-ordination with relevant authorities

The implementation of Fees for issuance & renewal of Istimara will be taken care by Saudi Traffic

The decision includes enabling the vehicle owner to view the value of the financial amount for energy efficiency imposed on his vehicle, and to approve the vehicle owner’s objection to the amount.

The government will bear all fees and fines of Saudi vehicle owners, if any, related to non-compliance with the renewal of the vehicle’s driving license that is more than 15 years old, in the event of its Saudi owner desires to drop it from the traffic records within one year of the issuance of the decision.

The first is that the vehicle owner shall object to the technical data regarding fuel economy or engine capacity on which the financial compensation is based within a maximum period of 60 days from the date of adding the amount to the vehicle’s account in the electronic platform for paying vehicle fees, and this is to be followed by reviewing the objections by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) on technical grounds apart from inspecting the vehicle if it is required.

Activate Digital Driving License

1. Log In to the Ministry of Interior’s Absher app.
2. Click on the My Services tab.
3. Select the Digital ID activation box
4. Then choose the Driving license box.
5. From the bottom of the screen select Activate Digital Driving License.

Muroor said that Digital Driving License can be downloaded on smartphones through Absher Individuals app, it can be shown to the officials in case of not carrying the original license.

The electronic version of the driving license was launched by the Ministry of Interior, represented by Public Security, General Traffic Department, through the Ministry of Interior’s ‘Absher Individuals‘ and ‘Tawakkalna’ application. 

The digital copy of the driver’s license is approved by the security authorities in all procedures that require its presentation.
