Around 2,002,456 Umrah VISAs have been issued to all the pilgrims across the globe. Out of which almost 60% of the pilgrims have performed Umrah and left to their home countries.

15% of the pilgrims are currently in Saudi Arabia in the 2 holy cities of Makkah and Madina.

Most of the Umrah Pilgrims who have arrived Saudi Arabia have come by Air.

90% of the Pilgrims came by Air
9% of the Pilgimrs came by Sea
1% of the Pilgrims came by Land

and the Rest are from Yemen, Malaysia, Algeria, Turkey, Bangladesh & Egypt

10,000 Saudi Men & Women are employed by Ministry of Hajj & Umrah to serve the pilgrims

Saudi Vision 2030 aims to attract about 30 million Umrah pilgrims annually by that year.

Indiviuals can apply for Umrah Visas directly without approaching respective Saudi diplomatic missions.

Umrah E-Visas are a plan of Vision 2030 and the first phase of E-Visa was revealed during a workshop in Jeddah.

Agency of Umrah Affairs have already discussed with all the Umrah Service providers about the preparations and arrangements for providing E-Visas for individual.

Haj & Umrah ministry have started a weekly indicator system in this new Hijri year to monitor the issuance of Umrah VISAs and also how many of them are actually visiting Saudi Arabia.

282,000 Umrah Visas Issued This Year

These weekly indicator will also include people coming by Air, Land & Sea and this initiative is one of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to the ministry, the total number of Umrah pilgrims who actually arrived in the Kingdom by Thursday was 96,038 and 87,232 of them were still in the country with 65,967 in Makkah and 21,265 in Madinah. It said 8,806 pilgrims had left Saudi Arabia after completing the Umrah rites.

A total of 89,990 pilgrims arrived in the Kingdom via air while 6,048 came overland. No pilgrims arrived by ships.

The ministry gave a breakdown of pilgrims by nationality. The highest number was from Pakistan with 46,202 pilgrims, followed by 25,580 Indians. There were 5,853 Indonesians, 2,663 Sri Lankans and 2,585 Jordanians.

Earlier, it was said that there will be charge of 2000 SR (Saudi Riyals) levied for doing Umrah. Now Its confirmed
that you can perform your 1st Umrah Free every year. You’ve to pay 2000 SAR only if you are doing Umrah 2nd time and
going on in a given year.

So, ultimately Saudi Government will be bearing the fees for all first time pilgrims.

Earlier the news was spread in many Pakistani websites ans social media that the Ministry of Hajj & Umrah has cancelled the Umrah Visa Fees of 2000 SAR (Saudi Riyals) which was charged for second and subsequent visitors.

The first time entry of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims will be free, but for the second time and subsequent entries after that will be charged SAR 2, 000. Usama Khan, from the Ministry of Hajj confirmed that.

This will be difficult for the people who couldn’t pay SAR 2000 for Umrah Visa visiting second time, but will be good for the Ministry of Saudi Arabia in terms of Revenue growth.
