Criminal Court in Jeddah has imprisoned a man for five months for not wearing mask & refusing to follow the instructions of the security guards.

The court ruled that the prisoner would have to serve a sentence after deducting the number of days he had already been detained.

According to accusations filed by the prosecution in court, the man refused to follow security officials’ instructions while performing field missions on the coast of Jeddah Cornish.

As a result of the investigation, the defendant refused to show the guard’s ID and warned him not to follow him. As a result, a security patrol team arrested the man. He was subsequently released on bail after a crime of not wearing a mask was registered against him and he was also informed of his legal rights.

Earlier, citizens confessed to his crime, but later denied the charges, claiming he was walking in the corniche with his mask in his hand when he removed the mask because of the heat and sultry heat. After confessing to him, he hugged him, so he asked the guards to leave him.

The prosecutor presented the defendant’s arrest and circumstances leading to his first confession in court, and decided to prosecute him for failing to respond, considering his actions as a violation of the rules.

The accused was unable to attend the first court, but later appeared in a remote court. He didn’t respond to the guards because he used earhook Bluetooth headphones while talking on his cell phone and thought he never wanted to go against them.

He also pledged to the court not to repeat such crimes, and that what happened was a careless act.

The court found the citizen guilty, stating that the defendant had committed a crime, including obstructing the guard’s duty, by refusing to respond favorably to his instructions.

Under the age of  18, the teenagers or kids who had not taken the Covid-19 vaccine jab and the people with special exemptions for health reasons will be allowed to enter the commercial outlets and Shopping Malls in Saudi Arabia  despite the new law comes into force from August 1 2021.

The plan was announced by the Minister of Education of Saudi Arabia, Hamad R. Sheikh. Hamad Al Sheikh said the new school year will begin on August 29.

According to the Minister, the three semesters consist of 13 weeks, each semester. He also added that each semester will have a long weekend. It has urged to go for second dose of vaccination.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) Saudi Arabia said this in response to a query about the taking of second dose  and its importance. The Health authorities added that there are four vaccines approved by MOH in Saudia they are Astra Zeneca, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson & Moderna.

The ministry added that appointment date for the second dose  will be rescheduled if the person gets corona virus infection after taking the first dose. It can be upto a time period following “six months of recovery”.

The ministry also said based on the studies done recently and recommendations from various medical experts that it acceptable for pregnant women to receive a corona virus vaccine. This does not require pregnancy postponing.

For breastfeeding process also the vaccines do not pose any risk, as said by Ministry. They recommended that vaccine should given to breastfeeding women also as “ the desired benefit prevails over the potential harm”.

The MOH Saudi Arabia on the other hand repeated its warning that Saudis should keep a distance of minimum 14 days between any two vaccinations whether its COVID, Measles or mumps jabs.

The latest list of fines for violating COVID-19 protocols comes after a May 7, 2020 announcement of new regulations aimed at limiting gatherings that aid in the spread of the virus.

Fines for violating COVID-19 protocols will be imposed on those in charge of conferences and facility managers for the following:

Gatherings in a single or particular space in excess of the number stated by authorities without a residential relationship wit hin houses, farms, and the like will be fined SR10,000 ($2,700).

For family gatherings in houses, fields, camps, chalets, or open areas for people living in the same neighborhood, a fine of SR15,000 is imposed if the number of people in one space exceeds the number listed in one space.

Another SR40,000 fine is imposed for gatherings for social purposes, such as funerals, parties, and the like, that exceed the allowed number of people.

Any group of employees in a home or a construction site who are not related by blood or marriage.

A fine of SR50,000 is imposed on any group of employees without a residential relationship in houses, buildings under construction, farms, and other similar locations, if there are five or more people in one particular space.

Violations of precautionary measures by private sector establishments/facilities will be fined according to the cases stipulated in the preventive procedures and measures announced by the government.

Violations  include inviting people and allowing meetings, failing to verify the health status of individuals through designated applications, allowing reported cases to enter the facility, failing to conduct worker check-ups.

Allowing people into the facility without a medical or cloth mask, a lack of sterilizers, ignoring temperature checks at mall and commercial center entrances, and an absence of sterilizers. ignoring the temperature Checkpoints at mall and commercial center exits, as well as a failure to clean carts and shopping baskets after each use.

The person in charge of the facility will be penalized   for violating COVID-19 protocols as follows, based on the size of the facility and the number of employees: Small businesses with one to five employees will be shut down for five days and fined SR10,000.

A small business with six to 49 employees will be shut down for five days and fined SR20,000, while a medium business with 50 to 249 employees will be shut down for five days and fined SR50,000.
Large facilities with 250 or more employees will be fined SR100,000 and forced to close for five days.

The person in charge of the facility will be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution to consider a jail term if the crime is repeated.

Restaurants and cafes are exempt from the above-mentioned closing times, and will only be closed for 24 hours the first time, 48 hours the second time, a week the third time, two weeks the fourth time, and a month the fifth time.

Refusing temperature checks at exits, not wearing masks, not adhering to social distancing, and withholding health information via the Tawakkalna app are all examples of violations.

Those who enter the Grand Mosque without a permit for prayer will be fined SR1,000.

Anyone who attends the above-mentioned meetings will be fined SR5,000 the first time, with the sum rising to SR100,000 if the offense is repeated, as well as referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution for consideration of a prison sentence.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia announced 13 more COVID-19-related deaths. The death toll has now risen to 7,098.

Saudi Arabia has performed 17,669,879 PCR tests so far, including 71,792 in the last 24 hours.
COVID-19 vaccinations are still being provided to Saudis and expats in the Kingdom, with a total of 10,906,361 people inoculated so far.
