Ministry of Justice in Saudi Arabia have came up with an easier way for expats for marraige. Ministry gives marriage officers in Saudi the power to hold home-based marriage contracts only for expatriate which is same like Saudi Citizens which was previously limited to the courts.<\/p>\n<p>First marriage contract of this sort happened on December 29, 2017 for an Expatriates &#8220;Non-Saudis&#8221; in their homes and the picture of document marriage contract from a Legal Marriage Officer was posted on Social media.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignnone wp-image-1801 aligncenter\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 598 395'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/saudiexpatriate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Expat-Marriage-Contracts-made-Easier-in-Saudi-Arabia-Saudiexpatriate.com_.jpg\" alt=\"Expat Marriage Contracts made Easier in Saudi Arabia-Saudiexpatriate.com\" width=\"598\" height=\"395\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Justice pointed out that it will reduce the flow of couples to the courts, where it used to require the presence of the non-Saudi and the spouse in the court to sign the agreement of the marriage contract, in addition to the presence of the wife\u2019s guardian (her father) and the witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The service is available in the personal status courts in Riyadh and Madinah in this initial stage. It will extend to 14 other personal status courts in other areas, namely, the courts of Makkah, Jeddah, Buraidah, Dammam, Taif, Tabuk and Al-Ahsa, as well as the general courts in Alkhobar, Hafr Al-Batin, Najran, Al-Kharj and Abha.<\/p>\n<p>The service will initially be for non-Saudis who speak Arabic.<\/p>\n<p>Ibraheem Al-Shareef a Saudi legal marriage officer told Arab News: \u201cThis permission is given to specific marriage officers under certain conditions where they get a book of contracts to document the expats\u2019 marriage contracts from their homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Petitions for a marriage contract for expats used to be submitted via a form at the court or through the electronic service to register an appointment for a marriage contract in court.<\/p>\n<p>Petitions can now be easily submitted to the marriage officer. \u201cIt is important to have a valid Iqama ID, also the presence of the wife\u2019s guardian, in case if she was divorced a divorce contract should be there,\u201d Al-Shareef said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo fees are specified to be given to the marriage officer; it is optional,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nCourts will only issue marriage contracts for Saudis in case one of the spouses is a Saudi citizen and the other is not.
