Earlier, all the domestic workers were hired by personal or family and the Saudi government only managed control of the recruitment process and salary amounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Musaned <\/strong>has clarified new rules about the recruitment system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expatriates cannot apply Visa for domestic workers from their own country, but are allowed to recruit domestic workers from other countries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To initially issue a recruitment visa, an expatriate must have salary of SR 10,000 and also provides evidence of bank balance of SR 100,000. To issue a second visa an expatriate must have salary of SR 20,000 and also provides evidence of bank balance of SR 200,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 1 1'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/saudiexpatriate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/New-Rules-Regulations-for-Hiring-Domestic-Workers-1024x576.png\" alt=\"New Rules &amp; Regulations for Hiring Domestic Workers in KSA\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-5866\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">New Regulations for Domestic Workers in Saudi Arabia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Age<\/strong> &#8211; domestic workers must be 21 years and above\u00a0ONLY.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dates<\/strong> &#8211; Gregorian dates for contracts, not Islamic (<strong><em>Hijri<\/em><\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unpaid Salaries<\/strong> &#8211; Considered First Degree debts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contracts <\/strong>&#8211; MUST be based on standardized government templates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember49\">A: Employment Contacts&nbsp;&#8211; Terms have to include:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Job descriptions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal details (both parties)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signing dates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salaries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Payment Methods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rights and Responsibilities (Sponsor &amp; Employee)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Probation Periods (Up to 90 days only &amp; only one)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working Hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holidays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overtime Policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renewal Procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Termination Clauses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insurance Terms.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember51\"><strong>Probation Period<\/strong> &#8211; Sponsor or worker can end employment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember52\"><strong>Work Hours <\/strong>&#8211; No more than 10 hours daily<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember53\"><strong>Rest Periods<\/strong> &#8211; 24 hours per week<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember54\">B: Employer&#8217;s Responsibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All employment fees (recruitment, job changes, transfers, Iqama, work permit, and penalties)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Housing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not keeping passports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not keeping personal documents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No racist or sexist abuse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No verbal, physical, or mental abuse<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember56\">C: Worker Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Perform work duties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protect the sponsor&#8217;s property<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No physical assaults on family members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain sponsor privacy and confidentiality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No self or second employment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember58\">D: Islam- Respect Islamic principles, practices, and social traditions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember59\">The minimum age of 21 is to protect against the abuse of young workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember60\">Sponsors must state workers&#8217; salaries in writing and pay any outstanding dues highlighting worker financial rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember61\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember62\">The new rules are a massive step forward concerning the treatment and rights of domestic workers, which aim to produce transparency and balance in the labor market for employers and employees alike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia has brought in New Rules and Regulations for hiring a Domestic worker.
